Linglong Tires Enters the Philippine Market With a Bet on Filipino Drivers

The Philippine tire market has long operated on a binary: you either pay premium prices for Japanese and European brands, or you gamble on budget rubber and hope for the best. That middle ground, where a tire delivers more than the bare minimum without costing like a luxury import, has always been thin.

Linglong Tires

Linglong Tires is positioning itself right in that gap.

The Chinese tire manufacturer formally launched its Philippine operations on March 27, 2026, at Rizal Park Hotel in Manila. The event brought together nationwide distributors, introduced the Sport Master tire line, and announced Senator JV Ejercito as the brand’s local endorser. The campaign tagline, “Bagong Kasama sa Daan,” signals a play for everyday Filipino motorists, not niche enthusiasts or fleet buyers chasing the lowest cost per kilometer.

Not a Startup, Not a Stranger

Most Filipino drivers haven’t encountered the Linglong name, but the company behind it is far from obscure. Founded in 1975 in Shandong, China, Linglong ranks among the world’s top 10 tire manufacturers by volume. It operates nine production bases across China, Thailand, and Serbia, maintains R&D centers in eight locations spanning three countries, and holds over 1,500 patents. More than 70 global automakers fit Linglong tires as original equipment on new vehicles, with cumulative OE shipments exceeding 300 million units.

In short: cars from German, Japanese, and Chinese brands are already rolling off assembly lines on Linglong rubber. The Philippine retail launch is about making that same manufacturer available at the tire shop level.

Why Now

Linglong’s Philippine distribution runs through Team Ridemax Philippines, an automotive aftermarket distributor with over 400 dealer channels nationwide and more than a decade in the market.

The timing tracks with market fundamentals. Philippine vehicle registrations have been climbing, and the aftermarket tire segment follows that curve on a three-to-five-year delay. More cars on the road today means more tire replacements ahead. The mid-tier segment is where volume lives, because most Filipino car owners replacing tires on a Vios, Xpander, or Elf are not shopping for Michelins. They want something reliable enough to not worry about, at a price that doesn’t sting.

For Linglong, the Philippines offers tropical road conditions that favor their wet-grip strengths and a consumer base already comfortable with Chinese brands across other product categories.

The Sport Master Line

The launch centered on the Sport Master range, Linglong’s flagship passenger and light vehicle line. The Sport Master uses an asymmetric tread pattern designed to balance dry handling and wet grip, with features like Flow Break Unit Technology for improved road contact and a balanced pressure distribution system to reduce uneven wear.

Linglong’s head of product development presented durability and performance data at the event, covering passenger cars, SUVs, and light commercial vehicles, including the L300, Travis, and Isuzu Elf segment that accounts for a significant share of Philippine road traffic. A separate deep-dive article on specific test results and tire specifications is forthcoming.

The JV Ejercito Endorsement

Senator JV Ejercito is not the typical celebrity endorser reading a script. He’s a legitimate motorsport participant who has raced in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup for multiple seasons under Obengers Racing, competing in the Sporting and Legacy classes. He won his first circuit race at Clark International Speedway and has continued racing through 2025.

That background gives the endorsement a credibility layer that a standard celebrity tie-up wouldn’t. The implicit message: this is a tire that someone who actually drives hard is willing to put his name on. The choice is strategically coherent with Linglong’s positioning as a performance-conscious mid-tier brand.

The Bet

Linglong is not here to compete with Bridgestone or Michelin on outright performance. It’s here to give Filipino drivers a branded, globally backed alternative to the anonymous Chinese tires already circulating in the market, at a price point that acknowledges what most people actually spend on rubber.

The Sport Master line is the opening move. Whether Filipino drivers buy the pitch depends less on the launch event and more on what happens 20,000 kilometers down the road.
