TikTok Shop Promotion Performance Score Shifts Risk to Creators

What It Means

  • TikTok Shop Promotion Performance Score replaced the old creator quality metric for affiliate sellers and creators across the Philippines starting August 27, 2026.
  • Creator visibility now depends half on their own content and half on the review quality of the products they choose to promote.
  • Sellers whose Shop Performance Score falls below 3.0 lose affiliate access outright, regardless of any creator relationship already in place.
  • Independent creators without agency backing absorb risk from seller decisions they cannot see in advance, before any partnership is agreed.

TikTok Shop Promotion Performance Score is now the mechanism deciding which affiliate creators get seen and which sellers keep affiliate access at all. The platform retired Promotion Quality Points on August 27, 2026, replacing it with a two part score that ties a creator’s reach directly to the quality of the products they promote. For sellers and creators running affiliate programs in the Philippines, this is not a cosmetic rename. It changes who carries the cost when a partnership goes wrong.

TikTok Shop Promotion Performance Score Splits Into Two Equal Halves

The score runs from 0 to 5 and recalculates daily on a rolling 30 day window. Half of it comes from a Product Selection Score, an order weighted average of how well the products a creator promotes are rated against others in the same category. The other half comes from a Content Score, built on video and livestream quality and policy compliance. A creator only receives a score once they clear a minimum activity bar, generating at least five paid orders, posting at least ten shoppable videos, or hosting at least three livestreams within the past 30 days. Below that bar, there is no score to manage at all, just exposure to whatever a seller’s product quality happens to be.

Two Systems Now Gate Each Other

PPS does not operate alone. It runs beside a separate Shop Performance Score on the seller side, and the two scores interlock at specific thresholds. A seller whose Shop Performance Score drops below 3.0 loses affiliate access outright, cutting off every creator relationship built around that shop regardless of how those creators are performing individually. A creator whose score drops below 3.0 loses enhanced distribution, and some product categories require a score of 3.5 or higher just to promote at all. Neither side can override the other’s number. A creator with excellent content can still lose reach because a seller’s product quality slipped, and a seller with a clean catalog can still lose affiliate volume because a creator’s compliance record dropped.

Creators Now Screen Sellers Before Sellers Screen Creators

Before this change, a creator picking an affiliate product mostly asked whether the commission was worth the effort. Now a low rated product is a direct threat to the creator’s own account standing, since it pulls down the Product Selection Score half of their total. That has already started reshaping how affiliate deals get made. Creators are asking to see a product’s review history before agreeing to promote it, treating a seller’s Store Rating as a filter rather than a footnote. A seller who cannot show a clean rating history is a harder sell to a creator managing their own score, independent of whatever commission is on offer.

Independent Creators Carry the Heaviest Load

Creators backed by an agency or a multi channel network have someone negotiating on their behalf, someone who can pre screen sellers, flag risky product categories, and dispute violations through the appeal process. A solo affiliate creator running TikTok Shop Promotion Performance Score calculations off their own Account Health page has none of that support. Every product they choose to link becomes a bet on a seller’s quality control that they had no part in setting. The compliance and vetting work that used to sit inside a brand’s own team now sits, unpaid, with whichever creator agreed to promote the product.

Small Sellers Pay for a Reputation They Cannot Fix Quickly

A seller with a thin review history is not automatically a bad seller. They might simply be new, or recovering from a batch of returns that has since been resolved. Under TikTok Shop Promotion Performance Score, none of that context matters to the number. The score reads the Product Score at the moment a creator links it, not the seller’s trajectory or explanation. That turns product reputation into a gate creators check before a relationship even starts, which means a seller’s slowest moving asset, its accumulated review history, now decides who is willing to promote it in the first place.

TikTok Shop Promotion Performance Score did not just replace an old metric with a newer one. It moved the cost of vetting a business partner onto two parties who previously operated on separate risk tracks. A seller with a strong product history now has a real advantage in recruiting creators that has nothing to do with commission rates. A creator without an agency behind them now carries the same product vetting responsibility a brand’s own quality control team used to handle. The affiliate relationship on TikTok Shop has become a shared liability arrangement, priced in scores that neither side fully controls.
